Hargrave Street Market is a culinary destination located on the first and second levels of the True North Square complex, an urban mixed-use development featuring Class ‘A’ office towers, residential living, retail shops and a hotel, all surrounding an exterior public plaza. It is situated in the heart of the Sports Hospitality and Entertainment District of downtown Winnipeg.
The market showcases a diverse collection of Manitoba’s finest local restaurants and an epicurean-style grocery store. Inspired by the European food hall concept, it offers five restaurants; a cocktail bar; a coffee shop; a 5,000 sq. ft. grocery store; a 2,000-hectolitre brewery facility, retail store, tap room; and multiple exterior patios. It can accommodate 594 people, spread-out over 2818 m² (30,332 sq. ft.), with another 346 m² (3,724 sq. ft.) of ancillary space.
The overall Hargrave St. Market concept was curated by retail consultant Beauleigh, with the schematic design led by retail specialist GH+A Design Studio. Four out of the five individual restaurant vendors were designed by FRANK Architecture & Interiors. At the design development stage, Architecture49 took over the entire project, leading the coordination of mechanical, electrical and structural systems, production of Contract Documents, building permit submissions, and on-site reviews and inspections during construction. The micro brewery, retail store, tap room, and grocery store were solely designed by Architecture49, leading the entire process from conception to construction completion.
