The Pasadena Health and Wellness Centre is a community centre featuring a fitness centre, gymnasium and multi-purpose spaces. The building is arranged in three distinct wings; each representing a group of like or complementary programme elements. The space between the wings generally provides the circulation and lobby space, as well as some building support spaces.
The gymnasium wing is centrally located for easy access to the field and features a large gymnasium with stage orientation that provides optional internal and external performances. The gym is intended to be set for various sports and features painted lines for a two lane walking track.
The community wing features multipurpose and community rooms, sub-dividable with acoustic folding partitions. A small kitchen, storage and coat room support the multipurpose spaces.
The fitness component wing features a fitness centre with various fixed weight machines and free weights with cardio equipment. A small meeting room and staff area are also located in this wing.
Sustainably designed, the facility has a geothermal heat recovery system, tight building envelope, water saving features, sustainable nontoxic building materials, and natural daylighting, all contributing towards the LEED Silver target.
