Marpole Transit Centre is designed to support the charging, maintenance, and dispatch of a fleet of 300 Battery Electric Buses (BEBs). The three-level bus garage includes bus staging and storage at ground level, bus charging infrastructure and an electrical substation on the second level, and administrative facilities as well as employee and visitor parking on the third level. The two-level maintenance building on site is equipped with bus maintenance and repair bays, body shops, parts storage, and support areas for mechanics and maintenance staff. One of the key design elements is the Battery Electric Buses (BEBs) charging solution. It’s modular and scalable, allowing for quick modifications to the charging positions to meet any changes in the fleet mix throughout its lifetime of operation. This flexibility ensures that the centre can adapt to future advancements in bus technology.
