Mahone Bay Long Term Care home is a 96-bed facility located in picturesque Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Utilizing a resident-centered design philosophy, the cluster of six gables gives a village-like appearance to the building and their associated colours are a helpful wayfinding cue for residents and visitors. Two resident floors comprise the upper levels of the three-storey building, with operational and maintenance activities located on the ground floor.
Each household is home to sixteen private resident rooms, complete with two-piece ensuites. Designed to limit resident travel distances as well as encourage social interaction and activity participation, these resident rooms are gathered around a central living space, including a dining, lounge, and activity space, kitchenette and balcony providing access to the outdoors. Each household’s nursing station is strategically located at the entrance to each household, providing unencumbered views of the main household access doors and the central living space, allowing staff to easily observe the residents and their daily activities.
