Kings Mutual Century Centre

Kings Mutual Century Centre (KMCC) is a stand-alone facility on a 15-acre site in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. KMCC, includes an 800-seat arena and a large multipurpose meeting room for 200 people which is serviced by a commercial kitchen. The building was designed to anticipate multi-phased additions to house an aquatic centre, 4-sheet curling rink, public library and fitness centre as well as an outdoor pool – all of which can be accommodated by the reception space, public concourse, washrooms, refrigeration system and other building services of the arena. This approach gave the client group the flexibility to prioritize their immediate and future program needs in relation to their current and projected funding. Sustainable design features include heat transfer technologies, occupancy light sensors, and day-lighting strategies.
