The Kenora Airport Terminal replaced an existing facility that was no longer adequate for their needs. The new facility efficiently provides space for the following operations: Air Terminal Building for Passengers, Fixed Base Operations for General Aviation and Canada Border Services Offices.
The architectural design and selected features recognize Kenora as an important tourist destination and emphasizes the importance of the local character. Local materials such as heavy timber and stone define the materiality of the airport. The terminal building is designed to accommodate a future expansion to address the evolution service levels, new processing technology, and/or increased security protocols mandated by government agencies. The program includes: public concourse, hold room, FBO operations, airline offices, airline support areas, public washrooms, administration and service areas.
