Credit Union Place is an innovative multi-use community recreation centre. The design was delivered in two phases and constructed as part of the overall municipal downtown revitalization strategy for Summerside, PEI.
The first phase included the design of a 4 000 sq m aquatics facility complete with a six lane 25m lap pool, leisure pool with water slide, water umbrella and hot tub, sauna and steam room facilities. Overlooking the pool, is a fitness/weight room, squash courts, and convention facilities, including a 400-seat meeting hall and smaller meeting rooms. The second phase saw the addition of a 4000 seat spectator arena that can also be used for musical performances and other events. The arena has luxury mezzanine level skyboxes, a practice rink, walking track, eight lane bowling alley and retail space.
Sustainably designed, the building features geothermal wells, heat transfer technology, and a high efficiency building envelope.
