The municipality of Halifax is a highly active community, and the addition of a sports centre was greatly needed and anticipated. The BMO Centre features three NHL-scale ice surfaces with 200-400 seats and one with over 900 seats, and change rooms, officials’ and coaches’ rooms, commercial, meeting and office spaces, and all the training and medical rooms necessary for successful events and ongoing programs.
Certified LEED® Silver, the building has been responsibly and sustainably designed from blueprint to construction and beyond. The building recovers heat with CIMCO’s Eco Chill system and hydronic in-floor and bleacher heating for superior energy performance and comfort.
