University College of the North Thompson achieves LEED Gold

Congratulations to University College of the North for achieving LEED Gold Certification on April 20, 2016.

The new Thompson campus sets the standard in Northern Manitoba for leading edge energy efficient and high performance design. The building achieved LEED Gold Certification focusing on attaining high levels of energy efficiency and superior indoor environmental quality. Most significantly, a southern glass facade and large four-storey atrium allows natural light to flood into the core of the building. Passive daylighting strategies have been incorporated throughout the building. Material choice was heavily influenced by local availability to reduce transportation costs, and durability to reduce ongoing operating costs.
