[TORONTO] Architecture49, as part of the WSP Design Team alongside Arcadis, is proud to support Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP)—a consortium comprising Acciona Infrastructure Canada Inc., Amico Major Projects Inc., and WSP Canada Inc.—in delivering the Ontario Line, Toronto’s landmark 15.6-kilometre rapid transit project. Architecture49 is leading the design of three of the five elevated stations, helping to define the future of urban mobility in the city.
Working as part of the Elevated Guideway and Stations (EGS) package, our team is leading the design of Don Valley, Flemingdon Park, and Thorncliffe Park stations. These elevated stations will act as critical neighbourhood gateways that will enhance mobility, ease congestion, and support future growth in one of Canada’s most dynamic urban regions.
“Designing transit infrastructure at this scale is about more than moving people, it’s about connecting communities,” says Shery Cherian, Regional Transportation Sector Leader at Architecture49. “Each of these stations is being shaped with the local context in mind to support vibrant, accessible neighbourhoods now and into the future. Designed as enclosed spaces to protect against the elements, these stations feature strategically designed passive ventilation systems that promote natural airflow—eliminating the need for powered equipment and helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint.”
Each station is being carefully designed for its unique community context:
- Don Valley Station will serve as a major intermodal hub, offering direct connections to Eglinton Crosstown Don Valley Station and its TTC Bus terminal, and supporting future network expansion.
- Flemingdon Park Station is in a high-demand area already well-used by commuters. The design prioritizes access, accessibility, and minimal disruption to the surrounding neighbourhood.
- Thorncliffe Park Station is situated in one of Toronto’s most diverse communities, where the design approach focuses on seamless integration with the urban fabric and improved connectivity for all users.
These stations reflect Architecture49’s commitment to community-centred infrastructure, balancing technical excellence with human-centred design.
Our involvement in this city-shaping initiative adds to our national portfolio of transportation projects, including commuter rail, light rail, and integrated transit-oriented development across Canada. With the Ontario Line, Toronto moves closer to a more connected, efficient, and inclusive future, and we’re proud to help bring it to life.
