McGill University Strathcona Music Pavilion recognized with an International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Award

Architecture49 is proud to announce that an International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) award of merit was attributed to the McGill University Strathcona Music Pavilion project (carried out in collaboration with WSP), in the Masonry category.

The project, currently under construction and carried out in several phases, consists of the rehabilitation of the envelope of the Heritage Pavilion built in 1899, from the foundation to the replacement of the roof and windows, including the repair of the masonry, the stairs of the main entrance, and the statue of Queen Victoria, located in front of the building. The building, originally designed by the renowned American architect Bruce Price thanks to a significant donation from Lord Strathcona, is constructed of load-bearing brick walls with a façade made of Montreal gray stone, wooden windows, and a copper roof. The Strathcona Pavilion is one of the most important heritage buildings on the McGill University campus in downtown Montreal.

ICRI conducts an awards distribution each year to honor projects in the concrete repair industry. Entries are received from around the world, and the winning projects are honored each year at the annual ICRI Awards Banquet at each ICRI Fall Convention.
