Architecture49, proudly supports the upcoming Artificial Intelligence in Architecture (ΔI-rchitecture) Symposium, hosted by the Master of Architecture Program at Toronto Metropolitan University. The symposium, slated for February 29th, 2024, in Toronto, Canada, will explore the intriguing intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Architecture. With a focus on the symbiotic relationship between theoretical research and practical application, the event promises to delve deep into the transformative potential of AI within the architectural landscape, focusing on three key themes:
- Agency: Artificial Intelligence challenges traditional notions of authorship in architecture, raising questions about collaboration and organizational practices within the industry.
- Ethics: Concerns arise regarding AI's potential to supplant the need for human designers in certain tasks.
- Inclusivity: With architecture's ethical foundations resting on a shared vision of community, questions arise about how AI will work within this understanding.
Further, we are pleased to have A49 Toronto’s Victoria Ikede participating in the event as a panelist. Victoria is a BIM Coordinator and a part of A49's Design Through Technology Initiative, where she is currently exploring opportunities for A.I. applications within the practice. Her focus is on accessible workflows poised to reshape industry habits, while fostering technological inclusion.
Architecture49 remains committed to driving innovation and collaboration within the architectural community. We are excited about the symposium and the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights with fellow professionals. Together, we can shape the future of architecture in the era of Artificial Intelligence.
