This spring, Architecture49 will participate in three major industry events across North America, sharing expertise on resilient design, digital innovation, and complex project delivery.

Urban Transit Infrastructure Symposium – Toronto, May 29-30
Shery Cherian, Principal and Regional Market Sector Lead for Transportation, will join a panel discussing progress and lessons from major transit projects in Eastern Canada. The session will cover challenges of large-scale infrastructure in dense urban settings, collaboration across sectors, and strategies to address funding and construction delays. Shery will highlight partnerships and delivery models that enhance efficiency and sustainability in urban transit.
RAIC Conference on Architecture – Montreal, June 1-4
The RAIC Conference on Architecture is Canada’s premier annual gathering for architects, designers, and industry professionals. It brings together leaders from across the country to explore critical topics in architectural practice, including sustainability, equity, innovation, and the future of the built environment. Several Architecture49 team members will contribute to sessions and tours that reflect the firm’s ongoing leadership in resilience, innovation, and technology.
Victoria Ikede, AIX Design Lead, Toronto, will present Where Language Meets Design: AI Prompt Engineering for Architects, exploring how AI is transforming architectural visualization. Drawing on her work with A49’s Design Through Technology Initiative, Victoria will discuss how architects can harness AI through precise prompt engineering to accelerate workflows and expand creative possibilities.
David Alexandre Côté, Quebec City architect and design studio instructor at Université Laval, will speak on climate resilience in the redevelopment of the Vachon cake factory after 2019 flooding. He will detail the integrated design strategies used to strengthen existing infrastructure and the social and economic benefits to the community, showcasing a model for climate-adaptive architecture.
Amir Jamal, Architect (Toronto), will lead three architectural tours in Montréal, featuring iconic sites such as Habitat 67, Westmount Square, and Pointe-à-Callière.
These building tours are designed to deepen understanding of Montréal’s architectural and cultural evolution. Each visit will explore the design intent, cultural significance, and urban impact of these landmarks, offering insights into how architecture continues to shape the city’s identity and built environment.
AIA International Conference – Boston, June 2025
Pauline Thimm, Architect, will present the Canadian practice perspective on Designing with Cultural Sensitivity during the AIA International’s Global Architecture Workshop. She will join a panel with leaders from Continental Europe and the UK to discuss ethical, inclusive design approaches. Pauline will spotlight Architecture49’s leadership in Reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous communities, highlighting how cultural respect shapes meaningful global architectural practice.
