[Toronto, Ontario] A49 proudly announces our 2024 platinum sponsorship of the Society of South Asian Architects, Canada (SOSA). This partnership reflects our firm’s commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the architectural profession.

SOSA, established in 2021 by a dedicated group of architecture and design professionals, embodies a spirit of diversity and community within the industry. Recognizing the need to advocate for locally and internationally trained design professionals and promote South Asian Architecture in Canada, SOSA has provided a platform for South Asian representation and created a supportive network for its members and design community.

Our sponsorship for 2024 will directly contribute to SOSA's mission of empowering locally and internationally trained design professionals in Canada through mentorship and outreach. By joining forces with SOSA, we're reaffirming our commitment to collaborating with nonprofit organizations dedicated to uplifting international talent and promoting diversity within our field.

A49 team member Nitesh Salwan, an Intern Architect at our Toronto office, has been deeply involved with SOSA since 2022. Serving as the Manager for Strategic Foresight, Nitesh plays a crucial role in guiding SOSA's plans and strategies for the future, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals.

Reflecting on his involvement with SOSA, Nitesh shares, "As an internationally trained professional, I could resonate with the stories of and challenges faced by newcomer Architects in Canada. I volunteer with SOSA as it strives to provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences within the South-Asian diaspora as well as establishing dialogue among the broader Canadian architectural community."

Our partnership with SOSA underscores our shared commitment to creating a more inclusive and vibrant architectural landscape. Together, we strive to celebrate the richness of cultural heritage, embrace diverse perspectives, and empower architects of all backgrounds.
