Located in the Sports Hospitality and Entertainment District in the heart of Downtown Winnipeg, True North Square is a highly diverse, mixed-use development project contributing to the rejuvenation and improvement of downtown Winnipeg. The complex will be comprised of a large outdoor civic plaza surrounded by three highrise towers, which will accommodate mixed-use spaces including Class ‘A’ office space, residential units, hotel accommodations, retail space and an elevated skywalk system. In addition, a two storey parkade will be constructed below the outdoor plaza, adding a significant amount of parking to the downtown area.
As the Associate Architect, Architecture49 is responsible for overall project delivery coordination and integration of complex engineering systems, technical detailing and documentation of architectural components, compliance with the National Building Code and local bylaws, as well as the interface between the Project Owner and the City of Winnipeg for permit submissions and variance applications. During the construction phase, Architecture49 will be responsible for on-site reviews, inspections and the overall quality and control of the project.
True North Square has been designed and developed by employing an Integrated Design Process model, which utilizes a holistic methodology for high performance building design and construction. The General Contractor and their key subtrades are incorporated in the design processes at the early stage and working with the Owner, Architects and Engineers to develop innovative and effective building solutions.
