Prince George Works Yard

City of Prince George, British Columbia

The City Yards Project involved renovations and improvements to the Works Yard property at 18th Avenue and Ospika Boulevard and amalgamated two other yard facilities at this site. The project improves staff and customer flow, vehicle yard traffic flow, optimizes utilization of existing site facilities and meets yard environmental issues, site landscaping, and yard utility servicing needs. The Administration Building is a two-storey 2 100 sq m building and contains the administration functions of Purchasing, Environment, Transportation/Streets, and Utilities as well as a Central Computer area. Staff Lockers and Lunchroom are located on the ground floor. The Utilities Electrical Workshop is located on the north side of the building with easy access to the yard.

It has been designed to incorporate sustainable (LEED) features such as opening windows, all wood construction and low emitting materials. Energy modeling was conducted to select building systems that reduced energy consumption by over 30%.
