The TED building is located in the west end of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Due to the challenging shape of the site, the building form is articulated to optimize the use of space while respecting its context. This approach maintains residential privacy where necessary and creates opportunities for picturesque views of the Halifax Peninsula. The design is defined by a series of contrasting-colour built forms, which step down across the site towards the residential neighbourhoods. This helps to break down the volume of the building and creates an interesting shape with opportunities for large rooftop terraces.
The building is a 9-storey high-rise, with a 3-storey deep underground parking garage. It contains 69 residential apartments on the upper levels, 6 stacked multi-level townhouses, and large commercial spaces. The building includes several resident amenities including an interior program room, a large rooftop terrace, and a penthouse level gym with sweeping views of the city.
