Community Recreation Complex Project, Port Coquitlam

The City is planning a new Community Recreation Complex in the downtown area south of Wilson Avenue, between Mary Hill Road and Kingsway Avenue.

Following a competitive process, the City has selected Ventana Construction, a Burnaby-based general contractor and construction manager, to plan, design and construct the project.

Watch the video compiled for Ventana’s proposal. Please note that detailed design work is underway and some of the featured elements have not been confirmed.

Located on 15 acres of City-owned land, the project will replace outdated recreation facilities and Rec Complex Mapinclude housing and commercial components.

Detailed planning is taking place in 2016. At this point, the new complex is expected to include an aquatic facility, ice arenas, and a variety of fitness and multi-purpose spaces to better meet the needs of the growing community. The residential and mixed-use components will offer various ownership and occupancy options.

The overall development is envisioned as a place where people will gather and socialize, meet for a cup of coffee, watch or participate in activities, and access a variety of services. This vision reflects the extensive input gathered from the community in 2014.

In 2015, the project received a $12.5 million grant from the Government of Canada’s Building Canada Fund – Major Infrastructure Component. Read the media release for more details.
