Kitchener Central Transit Hub
The Kitchener Central Transit Hub is envisioned as a major transportation gateway for the Region of Waterloo, bringing together regional, provincial, and active transportation networks in a single, connected destination. Located at the intersection of King and Victoria Streets in downtown Kitchener, the hub will serve as a central link between ION, Grand River Transit (GRT), GO Transit, VIA Rail, pedestrians, and cyclists, creating a seamless experience for travellers across the region and beyond.
Designed in association with WZMH Architects, the project reflects the growing importance of integrated transit infrastructure in supporting sustainable urban growth. Through an extensive design and consultation process involving the community, project stakeholders, and transit partners, the hub has evolved into a civic destination that prioritizes accessibility, connectivity, and user experience.
Beyond its transportation function, the transit hub is intended to become a focal point for the region, helping to strengthen connections within the Toronto-Waterloo Innovation Corridor while supporting future economic development and urban intensification. As a welcoming public gateway, the project will enhance how people move through and experience Waterloo Region for generations to come.
