Ecole Francois-Buote School Phase 1, Charlottetown, PEI
Architecture49 was retained by the Province to design additions and renovations to the School and Community Centre. The project added two industrial arts shops, two classrooms, washrooms, and a daycare addition. The project also included several interior renovations including expanding the kitchen, community lounge, and providing community offices. Through careful planning of the work, the design allowed for the continuing safe operation of the school during the construction period. The design features state-of-the-art daycare facilities and new educational spaces that creatively responded to the program with efficiency and functionality. Care was taken to not limit the possibility of future growth. To ensure that flexibility A49 was tasked to develop a Phase 2 Concept in consultation with stakeholders that conceptualized possible future additions and renovations.
